Sinkhole Repair

What exactly is a sinkhole?

A sinkhole is a depression or hole in the ground caused when the surface layer collapses. This can happen when the underlying rock is partially or entirely dissolved through exposure to water over time.

Sinkholes can range in size from small, shallow depressions to massive holes that can swallow an entire home. They can be caused by anything that puts weight on the soil, including construction, roadwork, vehicle traffic and heavy rains or flooding. If a sinkhole occurs under your foundation, pool, driveway or walkway — even if it’s relatively small — it can cause structural issues that are far more than just cosmetic in nature.

What to Do If You Suspect You Have a Sinkhole?

If a sinkhole occurs on your property, first ensure that your family or business focuses on safety. Next, mark the sinkhole area with tape or signage to notify others. Finally, call BD Environmental for a thorough inspection. If the sinking is gradual enough, it will be possible to save your home or business’s foundation and slab before too much damage occurs.
